B is for Brandon, wish I’d grown that tall,
C is for Coalport and cottages and cake,
D is for dresses I asked you to make,
E is for elderflower and elderberry wine,
F is for foxes who came to dine,
And the Hens, time after time,
G is for genealogy and surfing the net,
H is for hoping today isn’t wet,
I is for icy mornings when the car wouldn’t start,
J is for Joann, the girl who liked art,
K is for grandKids, yes I know it’s a cheat,
But they’re two Lovely Lassies who should make the Leet,
M is for Marianne and Mrs Mac,
And all MacLellan women who never hold back,
N is for kNitting, ah that should have been K,
Ach never mind, it’s better this way.
O is for ornithology, I’ve already used B,
But had to bring birds in, I know you’ll agree.
P is for pupils and pups driving you mad,
Q is for Qi when scrabble goes bad.
R is for rhodies and rusty cars by the barn,
S is for sewing and bracken dyed yarn,
T is the Toms, the men in your life,
U is the ups and downs of a mother and wife.
V is for visits to Sweden, Norway and more,
W is the welcome as we come through the door,
X is the eXtra things I’ve neglected to say,
About Meggy and cat sitting and horses and hay,
Y is for You, I’ve left Z for You too,
When it’s tricky I always ask Mum what to do.
